The city of Shizuoka is the capital city of Shizuoka prefecture, which is located on Suruga Bay, East Central Honshu, Japan.It is a busy port and is known for its tea, oranges and lacquer ware.Shizuoka is known as the heartland of Japanese football and is home to two of the J Leagues most successful sides-Jubilo Iwata and Shimizu S-Pulse.The 51,349-capacity all seated stadium was opened in May 2001 and is set in parkland with its own railway station. The stadium has hosted some matches during the 2002 FIFA World Cup. It also has an athletics track.
