The stadium is named after Louis Rwagasore, an ex-prime minister of Burundian who is also an independence hero of the country. Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium is the home ground used by several football teams, including the national team of Burundi, Atheletico Olympic, and, finally, Lydia Ludic Burundi Academic FC.
