The stadium was built in 1939 as a result of the successful period of the football club. During 1948-1952, the stadium was used by Fleetwood Flyers as a speedway. In 2007, a new Percy Ronson Stand (the first new stand built since the late 1990s) was constructed at the cost of over 200 thousand pounds. It replaced the Scratching Shed. In the same year, the club announced the new development plan for the stadium that included:
- Replacing the current terrace located at the north site of the stadium with another terrace.
- Demolishment of the social club and building all-seater stand with the capacity of 1000 that would also include a supporters bar, changing rooms, dining facilities, executive boxes, cafeteria, IT suite, and other facilities.
The construction plan was divided into two phases, and the first phase started in 2008. There were several changes to the second phase, and the construction began only in 2010. The Parkside Stand was completed in 2011.
