Berekum Sports Stadium also referred to as Golden City Park, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Berekum, Ghana. It is mainly used for football games. Berekum Sports Stadium is the permanent home of Berekum Arsenal F.C. and Berekum Chelsea F.C. The total capacity of the stadium is 5,000 spectators. In 2008, the stadium was renovated by adding the new grass pitch.
More improvements to the stadium have been made recently within preparation for CAF Champions League matches. Berekum Chelsea F.C. is one of the football teams participating in the CAF Champions League, and that is why the ground has to match certain requirements.
The Premier League Board identified four the rowdiest venues, and the Berekum Sports Stadium was included in the list along with the Tamale Sport Stadium, T& A Park, Len Clay Stadium, and Obuasi. These are four venues where harsh conflicts between the team’s fans took place. Moreover, Berekum Arsenal, the team that usually plays at Berekum Sports Stadium was not allowed to use the ground for three matches because of the crowd violence that took place in the ground.
