Description

Republican Spartak Stadium is located in Vladikavkaz, Russia. Although it is a multi-purpose stadium, it is mainly used for football matches. Today, it is able to welcome 32,464 people. This is the permanent home of Spartak Vladikavkaz F.C.

The pitch of the stadium is covered with natural grass. The last major repairs of the pitch were conducted in 2004. In 1995, “Alania” won the championship in the ground.

The stadium was designed by the architect Tamara Butaeva. It was built for two years and opened in 1962. In 2007, the stadium held two matches of CSKA, including the UEFA Cup and the Cup of Russia. Both matches ended with the same score of 0:0. Soon, a new scoreboard was installed, two stands were repaired, and both sound and lighting systems were adjusted.

In 1994-1996, Republican Spartak Stadium was chosen to host the matches of the President’s Cup of North Ossetia between the following clubs: Genoa, Italy; Boavista, Portugal; Oviedo, Spain; Mechelen, Belgium; Atletico Madrid, Spain; Vasco da Gama, Brazil; Valencia, Spain; Auxerre, France; and Botafogo, Brazil.

In 1970-1991, “Alania” (which used to be referred to as “Spartak”) played in the ground during the USSR championship.

In 2010, the stadium was significantly renovated, and a new press center was opened. However, in 2011, Valery Gazzayev, the president of Alania F.C. announce plans to build a new home arena with a capacity of 37,000 seats.
