Description

Don Valley was built in Sheffield, the UK for nearly 30 million in 1990. It was initially constructed for World Student Games that took place in 1991. However, the stadium was also used for other purposes.

For instance, the local athletic club used it for training. The half marathon of the city also took place at the ground. From 2008-2010, Don Valley was the home of Rotherham United F.C. until their moved to another stadium. The ground was also used for various shows, including the celebrity sports shows of Channel 4. It was also a great place for games of Rugby League and different matches of American Football.

Unfortunately, there were certain financial difficulties, which did not allow maintaining the stadium, and that is why it was closed in 2013. At that time, it was the 2nd country’s largest athletics stadium with capacity reached 25,000. Today, the site is used for many other purposes, including educational, researching, and sportive for local educational institutions.

By Bus. There are several bus routes, including 2, 69, 130, and 287. You can also take a tram that stops within 100 only meters of the former football stadium.
